The Eleventh Labour Part One
Post by Cosman246
This is a fictional (serialized) story
For those who don't get the title, read about Atlas Shrugged, the Twelve Labours of Herakles, and Ayn Rand, who I consider a rival.
Here's how it goes for Part One:
The year is 2020. Deep within the habitable zone of a spiral arm of the Milky Way, there lies a small, insignificant, planet known to its inhabitants primarily as "Earth". On this planet, there lies a nation, The US, in ruin, and in this nation lives hacker Nicholas V. Promethia. He was a pale, thin man, with dark hair, who looked as if he hadn't been out for quite a while and was one of the last people in the middle class, which was being largely divided into rich and poor. Nicholas was typing away as usual, until the time caught his attention. It was 2:00. The riots would begin. You see, at 2:00 each day, there was a riot at the US Capitol to lower the already ridiculously low and easily avoidable taxes. Most people supported the riots, and those who didn't usually didn't publicize their opinions, for if they did, they would be rehabilitated. Those with a difference known simply as the Disorder (characterized by introversion, inability to understand social norms, and high level abstract logical reasoning) were persecuted. Nicholas had the Disorder, but he and a few others were able to hide the Disorder in themselves, most (such as himself) not even knowing they had it. We now shall continue the story. Anyway, Nicholas kept on typing, when he realized what was happening to him. He was bored. Everything was the same. He wondered what to do, when he realized another thing. He hated the condition of his nation. But what could be done? All he had was a computer. How would he change the nation with a computer? He thought further. "Most people are too close-minded to read my opinions in a blog" was his first thought, followed by realizing the large chance of persecution if he posted, as they would deviate from the almost worshiped Norm. He needed to find another to find like minded individuals to change the situation.
