We need more people on NP. The forum feels dead lately and I don't check that often. When I do there aren't as many new posts and for the most part a few posts get argued on and that's it.

Not trying to offend the Admins or Blake by the previous statements, but just throwing this out there...
Maybe a contest to design a "commercial" or "flier" for NP to possibly bring in more people.
We haven't had a contest in a while, and they are fun.

I was also thinking an ideas/suggestion post.

For people to shoot around contest ideas, or other things for NP.

Sorry if there already is one, I don't visit as much and I forgot what posts are running and I was too lazy to check.

I agree, except for the flier thing. We don't want to attract the "wrong" type of nerds (as in trolls). But we do need more people....We could invite our friends from NP6 and before.

This is why I created the Bring-a-friend-to-NP Day thing in IRC. I can try to transplant a few viable candidates from TwoCans, but openly posting a link from there to here would open a Floodgate of Terror.

Tips:

• Everyday can be Bring-a-friend-to-NP Day. Every few days, try to nudge someone you know from meat space over in this direction.
• Post new threads. People are 10 times more likely to respond to a thread than create a new one, but if we only have 1 or 2 active threads per category, there aren't many opportunities to chime in.
• When someone new rolls along, don't belittle them for asking a question you know the answer to. Be warm and welcoming.
• If you find a post you like or is halfway interesting, use the social bookmarking buttons. I used the facebook one once on my 20-oh's article and that jumped to the top of the most-viewed chart rather quickly.

A big lesson from there: You are not the final judge in whether what you say is insulting, but the person receiving it. By the time you realize how it comes across (like, oh, iunno...when I realized in that thread), it can be too late.
